15.1 Terminology and Definitions

Label
A label is a final design created using PrismaTag Studio. It may contain text, images, barcodes, QR codes, or secure elements and is used for identification, tracking, or display purposes. Labels can be printed or exported based on project requirements.

Canvas
The canvas is the main working area where label designs are created and edited. It reflects the actual label size and helps users visually arrange elements before printing or exporting.

Element
An element is any object that can be added to a label. Common elements include text fields, images, shapes, barcodes, QR codes, and secure tagging components. Elements can be moved, resized, grouped, or configured.

Project
A project is a container that holds label designs, data sources, and configuration settings. Each project represents a specific labeling task or requirement and allows users to organize work efficiently.

Template
A template is a saved label layout that can be reused for creating multiple labels with the same structure. Templates help maintain consistency and reduce repetitive design work.

Data Source
A data source provides the information used to populate dynamic fields on labels. Data sources may include uploaded spreadsheets, CSV files, or integrated systems.

Field Mapping
Field mapping is the process of connecting data fields from a data source to specific elements on the label. This ensures that the correct data appears in the correct location for each label.

Preview
Preview is a feature that allows users to view labels before final output. It helps users check layout, data accuracy, and alignment before printing or exporting.

Batch Processing
Batch processing refers to generating or printing multiple labels at the same time using different data records. This feature is useful for large-scale label production.

Barcode
A barcode is a machine-readable code used for identification and tracking. PrismaTag Studio supports multiple barcode types that can be added and configured within label designs.

QR Code
A QR code is a two-dimensional code that can store more information than a barcode. QR codes are commonly used for URLs, product details, or traceability data.

Secure Tagging
Secure tagging refers to the use of specialized elements such as PrismaTag or PrismaTag-2 to support product authentication and protection against duplication.

Trial Mode
Trial mode allows users to explore PrismaTag Studio with limited access or features. Outputs generated during trial mode may include watermarks or usage restrictions.
